Jean-Lucien Sanchez is in charge of creation of exhibits for the CLAMOR.
History research manager for the Minister of Justice (Department of penal administration, office of research and statistics), Jean-Lucien Sanchez is a historian specialized in penal history and has been a researcher for the Center of Sociological Research on law and penal institutions (CESDIP) since 2012. A graduate of the Institut d’études politique in Toulouse (1999), he has a PhD in history from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (2009). He has also taught history courses at the ENEAD, at the online teaching service, and at the Université de Paris III Sorbonne Nouvelle’s online education program (2006-2015).
Jean-Lucien Sanchez is a member of the research project ANR Sciencepeine (Sciences, knowledges, and execution of punishments in France, 2009-2014). Since the inception of Criminocorpus in 2005, he has also been a member of its editorial board and in charge of the publication of virtual exhibits and virtual tours for the website. He is also a member of the European Labour History Network Working Group (2013).
Specializing in the penal colonies of French Guyana, Sanchez researches contemporary penal history. He is the author of one book: A perpétuité. Relégués au bagne de Guyane (Vendémiaire, 2013). Most of his articles are available online.
Jean-Lucien Sanchez has done research consultant work and catalogue writing for exhibits dedicated to the penal colonies of French Guyana (Museum Ernest Cognacq de Saint-Martin-de-Ré, 2006, and the Museum Balaguier de la Seyne-sur-Mer, 2010). When he was a project manager for the mayoral office of Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni, Sanchez notably contributed to the creation of a Center of Interpretation for Architecture and Heritage by organizing the Museum of the penal colonies of French Guyana (2010-2015).
